Spring 2012
How did I get so far behind on blogging? It has been an exciting and fun filled spring for Austin and I. He successfully finished another semester of school at BYU and I finished my first year of teaching! It seriously flew by! Here is a brief outline of what has been going on the last few months.
March-
Austin had a baseball trip to Portland, Oregon. My family decided they were going to drive down for the weekend to watch. So, I flew up there and spent the weekend with them! It was pretty cold, but we enjoyed the family time. We went to dinner, checked out the Chiropractic College, watched baseball games, and went to the local base where we found some sweet planes :)
April- I had spring break the same week that Austin had his baseball series against Seattle University. How convenient! So I flew up early, spent time with the family and enjoyed some baseball. Austin's family also made the trip up to visit his older sister Ashley! It was a big family reunion. I finally got to meet Graham, Ashley's 2nd baby boy. He and Bennett are adorable. I wish we lived closer to everyone. Two weeks later, I flew to San Francisco to watch some more baseball in the city with Austin's family and it was great! We also got to go out to dinner and celebrate some birthdays with the Frampton's. I love San Francisco more and more each time I go. The next week, my parents came down to Utah for the weekend, and I graduated from BYU! It was an exciting month to say the least.
May- Last month of teaching. The school year went by so fast. I had a great class and we ended the year with fabulous scores on the state test, ice cream and pizza parties, kickball and yearbooks. I'm going to miss those cutie pies.
May was also the last month for BYU baseball games. My mom and I met in Los Angeles on a Thursday night so we could spend the weekend in Malibu! BYU was playing Pepperdine, and we could not pass up the opportunity to have a weekend at the beach. Friday morning we went and saw my Great Grandparents old house, went to the Ronald Regan Presidential Library (which is actually quite fascinating and is a museum of their life and work as president), then we went to the beach, ate lunch, and watched the baseball game. The next day we got pedicures, watched the baseball game, went to Santa Monica Pier for dinner, and saw The Avengers. It was a quick trip, but so fun. Did I mention how cool my mom is for renting a convertible? I've never been in one... highlight of the weekend!
We also had a great weekend in May for Austin's final home games with BYU baseball. My whole family and Austin's whole family came down for the celebration and they all stayed at our house! It was like one big party the whole weekend. One night we had a movie night.
Saturday was senior day. Austin started the game at 3rd base, where he spent most of the year. However, he pitched the last inning of the game! He hit 97 miles per hour with his fastball. It was an exciting game even though they lost. After the game there was a delicious banquet dinner for the players and families. It was a tad emotional. Coach Law took time to talk about each senior and their contributions to the team. It was sad knowing that BYU baseball was over for all these guys, including the coach. Austin has made some amazing friends throughout his years on the team that he will never forget.
